Home Education
Home education, resources & everyday learning
Home education for us is a mixture of structured learning, following interests, trying different resources and working out what actually helps each of the girls learn well.
This is where I share the resources we use, how we organise our days, what we are learning and the things we discover along the way.
Finding what works for our family
Home education gives us the freedom to build learning around the girls rather than expecting every child to learn in exactly the same way or at exactly the same pace.
We still have structure and goals, particularly as we move towards GCSEs, but there is room to change direction when something is not working, spend longer on something that needs it and make space for interests that might never fit neatly into a school timetable.
I share what we are actually using here, including the things that work brilliantly, the resources we decide not to continue with and the changes we make as we go.
Around here
Expect lessons and resources, reading, projects, GCSE planning, practical learning and plenty of adjusting as we discover what works best for each child.

Flexible, practical and built around the girls
I do not think home education has to look like school moved into the dining room.
Some learning needs focused lessons and regular practice. Other things are learned through projects, conversations, reading, making things, visiting places or simply having the time to follow a question a little further.
What works for one child may not work for another and what works this term may need changing next term. I want to share that reality here rather than pretending we found one perfect system and simply stuck with it.
