Juggling family life, homeschooling, housework and everything else life throws at us takes a lot of coordination—especially with five daughters, homeschooling lessons and a home that’s always full of life. One of the tools that’s truly helped us stay on top of it all (without losing our minds!) is an app called Family Wall.
It’s become our family’s personal command centre. And today, I thought I’d share how we use it to keep our home, hearts and homeschool running smoothly.

Keeping Track of Our Family Schedule
With multiple children doing different lessons, online classes, one-to-one projects, chores, and family commitments, it can get overwhelming fast.
Family Wall lets us create a shared family calendar, so everyone can see what’s happening and when. I can colour code different types of activities—like homeschooling, life skills, outings and content planning—and assign them to each person. My husband can quickly check what’s going on each day too, which really helps us stay in sync.
We’ve added recurring events like science lessons, chore time and “Tea Time Together” (our culture and arts afternoons). It’s so handy to have everything in one place.

Organising Our Homeschool Flow
Each of our girls has their own daily rhythm and responsibilities and I use Family Wall to help guide them. I input individual assignments, reminders and tasks for them to tick off—like “Complete maths lesson”, “Practice typing” or “Read next chapter of Narnia.”
It’s like a gentle checklist that helps them stay focused but also gives them the satisfaction of ticking things off. It supports the independence we’re working so hard to nurture through home education. (And of course they also have fun sending us creative messages too!).
Managing Chores (Without the Nagging!)
Let’s be honest—keeping a home clean and running smoothly with seven of us under one roof is no small feat.
We’ve set up a Chore List for each child in Family Wall. Every day, the app reminds them what they need to do—like tidy rooms, feed the rabbit, wash the dishes or walk Roo. I can even track who’s done what and leave little thank-you notes (or gentle nudges!) right in the app.
It keeps everyone more accountable—and saves me having to repeat myself ten times.

Shopping Lists Made Easy
We also use the shopping list feature for food, household items and even craft supplies. I love that I can update the list in real-time and my husband can check it if he stops by the shop on his way home.
We’ve created different lists for:
Weekly food shops
Homeschool supplies
Birthday present ideas
Bulk pantry restocks
It’s also great for meal planning—we tick things off as we go and everyone can add what we’re running low on (even the kids).
Private Family Messaging
One feature I didn’t expect to love so much that I shared a little about earlier is the Family Wall messenger. It’s a safe, private chat space just for our family.
We use it to:
Share sweet notes throughout the day
Remind each other about chores or upcoming plans
Drop funny photos or inside jokes
Keep our older girls in the loop (without needing a full mobile phone plan)
It’s a gentle way to teach digital communication in a safe environment, and the girls love it as well as giving us peace of mind.
Gift Ideas, Photos, and More
Another thing we use Family Wall for is saving gift ideas for birthdays and Christmas. My husband and I add things as the girls mention them throughout the year, snap photos of ideas when we’re out and keep track of what we’ve already bought or planned.
It’s been so helpful for secret planning—and let’s be honest, it helps avoid last-minute stress!
Why We Love It
In a world that feels increasingly busy and fragmented, Family Wall gives us a way to come back to centre. It keeps us organised, connected and gently guided through the week—without relying on a dozen sticky notes, texts or whiteboards.
It’s not perfect, but it’s been a genuinely helpful tool in managing our life as a homeschooling, home-cooking, homesteading family. And if you’re trying to juggle everything too, it might just be the thing you didn’t know you needed.
