Nevaeh’s 10th Birthday Escape Room Experience
We took Nevaeh and a couple of her friends to the Captains Study Escape Room in Dartmouth. As a family we really prefer experiences over possessions. All of our children love presents, of course they do but we learnt early on that experiences last longer and mean more. If I ask any of the girls what they got for a particular birthday or Christmas they don’t remember unless it was an experience. Alina still always talks about a bus ride she took with Kiesha 4 years later!
Experiences over Possessions
For that reason we made a conscious decision to do less toys, clothes etc… type presents and do more experience type presents.
Nevaeh also wanted me to do her hair and makeup. She loves makeup and I try to reduce her exposure to it! I am sure that is just a mother daughter thing. I am happy for her to use it but at 10 years old I really do not think it should be a daily thing and I definitely do not want her to think she ‘needs’ it.
She loved the look, especially her hair and I was grateful for the time we spent together.
I think as a parent it is so hard to walk that line between encouraging your child’s independence and not wanting them to grow up too quickly.
Happy 10th Birthday Nevaeh
10 is such a milestone birthday when you are a child. Nevaeh wanted to celebrate her birthday with her best friends and it was amazing witnessing her laughing so much when they were together and boy did it bring back memories of that showing off stage 😂
We started the day with having breakfast altogether which we do on everyones birthday. It is such a great way to start celebrating the day, it was then a fun filled day for Nevaeh at school (maybe not completely fun filled!).
Captains Study Escape Room
The celebrations continued on Saturday but collecting her friends and going to the Captains Study Escape room. It really was so much fund and everyone worked so well together. Mark and I really enjoyed it too and cannot wait to do another one.
