Rust Protection Iveco Daily Van Conversion
Rust protection, we need to talk about this. Rust protection is a must to protect your van and in our case also our new tiny home on wheels from further rust and decay. There is the outside rust protection and the inside rust protection.
If you caught our Week 4 Part 1 post you will know that an exposed wire meant taking off the already installed vapour barrier and insulation. A job that made both of us feel as though we were moving backwards not forwards.
However, upon doing so not only would we be able to add the conduit for the wiring but we also discovered many areas of the van that had not been protected.
Rust
We used a paint similar to Hammerite Rust Beater in Grey. Its fairly easy to apply. It’s a thick consistency a little like gloss. Purely down to the weather and it being so hot it dried fairly quickly but it is not a piant that really needs a second coat. Which is great as both Mark and I felt so dejected at feeling as though we were almost starting from scratch all over again.
The previous owners had previously done the work and there was evidence of that. They just hadn’t done all of it. It is vitally important to us as ‘Libertas’ is our new tiny home on wheels and so we want to prolong the life of all areas for as long as possible. This is why it is so important to work out what you are looking for when you are thinking of buying a van for a van conversion.
Rust wasn't the only problem!
As you will see from the video. Rust was not our only problem or challenging discovery. Our brand new, newly installed window… Had a leak!
Tired and feeling the strain we just had to crack on get things back under control!
